This year will mark the Water Environment Federation’s 91st annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC), being held Sept. 29 – Oct. 3 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. WEFTEC is the largest water and wastewater industry tradeshow in North America where water professionals from around the world come to learn, connect and explore new, transformative ways to manage and create the future of water.

WEFTEC’s 2018 technical program and exhibition will include more than 100 technical sessions, dozens of workshops, local facility tours, numerous events and more than 1,000 exhibitors who will showcase the latest developments, research, solutions and cutting-edge technologies. The show regularly draws more than 20,000 attendees, who will find increased opportunities in 2018 to interact directly with global water experts through mobile sessions, product demonstrations, the popular Innovation Showcase and several specially-designed pavilions.

Here are a handful of new technologies and announcements sent our way from companies that will be exhibiting at the show this year. For more info on WEFTEC 2018, visit weftec.org.

The TFX-500w ultrasonic flow meter measures volumetric flow of clean water in pipes 10 in. or smaller. It is well suited for water distribution and wastewater collection in new and retrofit applications. In addition to having lower installation costs than an inline flow meter, by clamping on the outside of the pipe, the TFX-500w meter can be installed while the system continues to operate. The SPiDER Scanner is the first wireless and color manhole inspection technology in a lightweight and compact form factor. The SPiDER is a scanner that can calculate its position in the manhole shaft by using its sensor data to measure its incremental motion instead of the payout cable. SPIDER weighs less than 30 lbs and can be hand carried to easements or other previously difficult to access sites. Visit CUES at WEFTEC, booth #711. Electro Scan’s 4-in-1 multi-sensor probe includes low voltage conductivity, high-definition CCTV camera, pressure sensor, and acoustic hydrophone to automatically locate, within 0.4 in., and quantify, in GPM, all leaks. The combined technologies complement each other, allowing for a wider scope of leak detection so that any pipe, no matter the material, can be assessed, with machine-intelligent results available in 10 minutes or less. InfoSense recently released the Sewer Line Data OrGanizer (SL-DOG) iOS and Android app to help field operators manage acoustic inspection data collected by the Sewer Line Rapid Assessment Tool (SL-RAT). The SL-DOG app allows operators, while conducting acoustic inspections in the field, to add asset IDs and field notes. The app automatically syncs to the SL-DOG cloud-based portal, allowing field operators to efficiently tie data to specific asset IDs, while streamlining back-office data management.

LMK’s T-Liner is a one-piece homogenous main and lateral CIPP connection liner that is ASTM F2561 compliant.
