Gas prices are outrageous, the number of home offices continues to rise, and we’re paying close attention to school safety measures. The place you call home matters more than ever.

There’s no need to hit the panic button yet; just check out these open houses and make sure you find the home that fits all your family’s needs. This week we’re showing you homes that are functional, affordable, and safe – and still offer a little something special.

And we’d be remiss not to point out that the $19 million fabulous home at 9727 Audubon Place is also open for viewing from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 16 – but let’s get back to the real world, shall we?

The home at 8308 Moorcroft Drive, Dallas, appears to be the typical, modest ranch-style home, but take a look inside. It’s got a ton of space, a huge backyard, and – count ‘em – five bedrooms.

On the market for less than a week, this home was built in 1965 and features tasteful updates in the kitchen and bathrooms. New windows and hardwood floors keep the home in good shape while maintaining its character.

If we’re being honest, that fifth bedroom is actually advertised as a game room, but the new owners can make that choice for themselves. The Moocroft manor has three bathrooms.

Perhaps the best part of this 2,594-square-foot abode is its location – on an oversized corner lot in Buckner Terrace. Surrounded by parks and shade trees, the area is about five miles east of downtown Dallas. It’s near White Rock Lake and the Dallas Arboretum.

Schools in the area include Bayles Elementary, W.H. Gaston Middle School, and Bryan Adams High School.

Realtor Diane Beeman with Ebby Halliday is listing the home for $450,000.

An open house is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18.

Another charming find is this three-bedroom on one-third of an acre at 3425 Jubilee Trail in Northwest Dallas.

Enjoy the special safety features like a new privacy fence. Other upgrades in this 1960 build include new gutters, a French drain, and a large sunroom with a wall of windows overlooking the backyard. There’s room for a pool out back, and you can beat the heat under one of the mature shade trees.

The home has two-and-one-half bathrooms, and a double walk-in shower was just installed this year in the master bath.

The cast-iron plumbing under the house was replaced with PVC. Granite countertops and custom cabinets line the kitchen, and a new custom mahogany front door greets guests.

Nearby schools include Everette L. DeGolyer Elementary School, Thomas C. Marsh Middle School, and W.T. White High School. Outdoorsy residents will love the close proximity to North Haven Trail and the easy commute to Uptown-Downtown.

Realtor Lizi Brown with Keller Willams Realty Allen Is listing the home for $673,500.

An open house is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18.

This 1,700-square-foot townhome has three bedrooms, two-and-one-half bathrooms, and all the chic appliances.

Built in 2019, the spot at 4010 Finis Lane, Dallas, features an open floor plan, tall ceilings, and a ton of windows with custom blinds for natural light. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and custom white cabinetry.

The hardwood floors give the home a fancy polish. The seller will negotiate a price to include furniture, televisions, and a refrigerator.

This abode in booming West Dallas is a short drive to downtown, Bishop Arts District, Trinity Groves, and Love Field Airport. Nearby schools include C.F. Carr Elementary School and L.G. Pinkston High School.

Realtor Cheyenne Reeves with Rogers Healy and Assoc. Is listing the home for $499,000.

Open houses are set from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19.
