A Ceres house that could set a new record for the area has been listed for sale with a $3m asking price. SEE INSIDE the home boasting an enclosed corridor leading the outdoor swimming pool.

Anneliese and Daniel Caruso have lived in London and Hong Kong but it was a modern country-style Ceres house that really captured their hearts.

After seven years overseas, in 2017 the wife and husband moved into the four-bedroom home at 8 Wheatsheaf Rd with their daughter Estella.

The location just 20 minutes’ drive from Avalon Airport was perfect for Mr Caruso’s need to travel for work.

“We had never heard of Ceres but loved the area and the house as soon as we saw it,” Ms Caruso said.

They purchased the abode from Jamie and Tarnya Lynch of Jamie Lynch Builders, who spent two years constructing the home which boasts a formal lounge with feature stone fireplace, mid-century-like stonework in the foyer and two double garages set on 1332sq m.

Adding a luxurious touch was the main bedroom’s two wardrobe dressing rooms and ensuite including a cast iron black bathtub, one of two in the house.

“As a nurse I can attest to their post-Covid shift relaxing properties,” Ms Caruso said.

Another major drawcard was the enclosed corridor leading past the outdoor entertainment area on one side and in-ground swimming pool on another side to the home’s main entry.

The kitchen contained a La Cornue oven that Ms Caruso described as “the French equivalent of the well-known English Aga oven”.

The property has hosted “countless” events including five children’s birthdays, including one attended by a real unicorn – rather, a pony wearing a costume horn.

“Our favourite room is the pool room,” Ms Caruso said.

“It has a beautiful high ceiling with exposed beams.

“With the doors open you can keep an eye on the kids in the pool at the same time.”

Mr Caruso is a keen gardener, planting wisteria and a small citrus grove.

“This allows for fresh lime in our gin and tonics, there is also dwarf lemon and orange trees,” Ms Caruso said.

She said Ceres was a wonderful community but her family was moving due to work and school commitments.

Wilsons Real Estate Geelong agent Tony Young said the house was built from materials including recycled timber from the Barwon Heads jetty.

“It’s a really interesting blend of Hamptons meets New York industrial, almost like an American barn with a beautiful French provincial style to it,” Mr Young said.

The house is for sale with a $3m asking price.

According to CoreLogic, Ceres’ $2.65m record house price was set by 20 Gully Rd in 2020.
